A generous promo code promises you free Lyft money, so you decide to give it a try. Maybe you found the code on a coupon site, a friend gave it to you, or you bought it in a Groupon.
You open up the Lyft app, get inside the Payments area, punch the code into the “Lyft Credits” area, and you get some kind of error message. Usually it’s something like “this offer has expired” or “not active” or “this is only available to new users.
I’m sure you still want that sweet, sweet free Lyft money, so here’s what you need to keep in mind
- Make sure you’re typing the code correctly (duh)
- If the promo code is for new customers only and you’ve already paid for a Lyft, sorry. You’re out of luck.
- If you’ve used another promo code before, most lyft coupons and promo codes don’t work. Ouch.
- If your code came from a Groupon, check to see if the offer has expired. Groupons only last 90 days.
That’s really all you can do if your promo code isn’t working, but keep your eyes open for new offers from Groupon that don’t require you to be a new user and you might find some cheap Lyft credit online.
