Every Uber and Lyft driver started driving with the hope that they could be the kind of top-earning driver who can turn this into an easy, lucrative job. The top-earning drivers have figured out how to do that, but the rest of us haven’t exactly hit the top earner’s mark. What are they doing that we aren’t?
Here’s what we know from statistics published by Uber: Some drivers are making a lot more than others. When I look at that map of Uber driver earnings, I fall pretty low on the scale and I want to know why! I have a lot of room to improve and I think other drivers do too.
There’s a problem that’s holding a lot of drivers back from becoming a top earner: Ride sharing is so new that there still aren’t a lot of great resources out there for us. Most other jobs have online training, books, and endless written advice on how to do the job best. As ride share drivers, all we really have are news articles, forums, and a few websites.
News sites and forums are filled with negativity
There are news articles, but they only focus on the “headline-worthy” stories like insurance battles, lawsuits, and sensational incidents between drivers and passengers. The news isn’t interested in teaching us how to do a better job.
There are forums for drivers, but most helpful conversations are drowned out by negativity from drivers complaining about the companies or arguing about anything and everything. Yes, it’s frustrating when Uber and Lyft cut their prices, but what can we do today to roll with the changes and earn more? I’m more interested in right-now strategies than reading complaints to strangers about company policies I don’t have the power to change.
Some websites for drivers have good advice
There are websites made by drivers for drivers that are better places to find uplifting advice that can help you become a higher-earning driver. I try my best to make this site a great resource for drivers, and other drivers like Harry Campbell at therideshareguy.com have great sites as well.
The blog content you’ll find on our sites covers a big range of topics that will help you improve yourself, but it can be hard to track down all the info at once. If you’re looking for a faster, all-in-one place to get help, there’s a new online course I think you should check out.
The best help I’ve seen is inside the ‘Maximum Ridesharing Profits’ course
Full disclosure: In 2015, Harry Campbell, the creator of Maximum Ridesharing Profits, brought me on board to help promote his course. I wrote this review before he hired me, and I still stand by everything I say in it. That said, I want to let you know that I am paid to promote this course.
We’ve been doing this job without a manual for a while now, and finally Harry Campbell and Brian Cole have stepped up and created a big video course that puts all the best advice into one well-made resource. It’s called Maximum Ridesharing Profits.
It’s not just a compilation of YouTube videos or a list of blog bookmarks. It’s a well-produced, well-thought-out video course that covers new strategies that can help you earn more.
I’ve looked through Maximum Ridesharing Profits and I really liked what I saw inside. First off, it’s well-designed and easy to use. Second, there are videos in there covering strategies I’ve never seen or heard of before. Here’s the best of the best:
- Next-level ways to take advantage of surge pricing
- Tax advice with creative (but legal) ideas for saving
- Practical ways to use more than one app at the same time
Those are the parts of the course that helped me the most, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Harry and Brian cover everything there is to cover about ride sharing, and they bring something new to each area of the conversation.
I highly recommend checking out Maximum Ridesharing Profits — there’s a lot inside that can benefit you, and it far exceeds what we’ve all been reading in the news and on the driver forums.
