DoorDash is rolling out a new order acceptance screen in the Dasher app, and not all Dashers are happy about the changes.
The new order screen no longer lists the item count, and important text has been shrunk down to a harder-to-read-size.
Here’s what the new order screen looks like:

New order screen! No item count, smaller text, and more
And here’s how the new screen looks side by side with the old one:
Before: item count, easier to read. After: No item count, less clarity about estimated pay
The most noticeable changes are the removal of the item count, and the smaller font size.
But there are other changes that aren’t as obvious: The Dasher widget—a feature available for Android users—no longer works the same way as before, and DoorDash changed the way that they describe order pay.
Let’s dig further into this new screen! Small changes can make a big difference to your earnings.
Item count is gone!
DoorDash removed the item count from the order acceptance screen. The item count was a useful piece of information to quickly evaluate an order.
For example, you might accept a 3-item order from McDonald’s, but skip a 30-item order. Now you have no way to know.
Changes to the Dash widget
The latest update seems to have changed the way that the home screen widget works. Order information only appears on the home screen widget for active orders, not for new order requests.
Before this update, the widget showed you full information before you ever accepted the order.
Now, you won’t be able to see the restaurant/store address, customer address, and a list of items in the order until you accept the order.
The best widget strategy—switch over the home screen widget to evaluate more info about an order before you accept—no longer works.
Graphic changes: Smaller font
Say goodbye to large, legible text on the order request screen. The update shrank the text size, so you’ll have a harder time seeing the order payout and mileage.
Dashers already complain that it’s hard enough to read new order requests while driving, so these new changes won’t help.
Harder to read = harder to evaluate = harder to make a smart decision about each order.
Changes to pay description: “Includes DoorDash pay and customer tips – Total may be higher” is now “Guaranteed“
DoorDash changed the way that upfront pay estimates are described. The new order screen simply says ‘Guaranteed‘ next to the payout dollar amount.
That is much less descriptive than the former order screen!
On the old order screen, DoorDash said that the estimated pay, “Includes pay and customer tip. total may be higher.”
On the new screen, does Guaranteed mean that tip information is included in the estimate? Can the total be higher, or is the displayed $ amount the maximum payout?
And has DoorDash finally done away with hidden tips?
So far, it looks like no changes were actually made to the upfront payout estimates. Estimates still include some tip information, and payouts over a certain amount are hidden until the order is complete.
You can still filter out the lowest paying orders, but you still won’t be able to tell when a customer has left a tip larger than ~$5.
Did DoorDash finally make it easier to decline orders? No!
Dashers have always complained that declining an order requires too many screen taps. Some were hopeful that a new request screen would mean a new decline button.
Unfortunately, there are no changes to the decline system. You still have to tap through several screens to decline an order.
Some order types still use the old screen
The new order request screen does not apply to shop & deliver orders, some pizza orders, and stacked orders that include a shop & deliver order.
Dasher reactions
“I don’t like the new order screen!”
“They use every trick in the book to get low paying orders accepted, and to stamp out cherry picking”
“I’m not getting access to the widget until after I accept the order :(”
“I feel like it should be a crime they put the mileage so small on there”
“I don’t get [the negativity]. This screen doesn’t communicate different information than before”
What do you think? Have you seen the new order request screen, and do you think it’s a positive or negative change?

The new order screen is costing me and other Dasher alot of time and money that was not waisted with the other screen. I am always striving for Dasher of the month and have been DASHER of the month for 7 months strait now. I have been dashing for over three years and was on my highest steek for Dasher of the month. I try my hardest and am always wanting to do my best for the platform…but with this new screen it is not treating us dashers that strive for excellence very well. It has cost me a lot of money and time and not just that has made it a lot more frustrating to try and do my best for the platform. I would hope that doordash would finally try and show some better respect to us dashers that try so hard to make there platform the great money making customers friendly site it wants to be. But it seems like there are doing the exact opposite and only making harder for us and showing us less respect. I love being a Dasher and I love working for aoordash but they need to start putting more effort into makeing the people happy that have made them the billion doller business they are today. God bless

Definitely not ‘dashing with confidence’ (Doordash quote) now. I told an agent that I could not deliver an order after accepting, due to the address not showing up until after confirming pickup. She tells me that it should have. I replied, no, because I would have declined had I known BEFORE that it was going to the military base and I had no pass to gain access. Also, I refuse to drive and try to read this smaller print now. If I have to pull over, so be it. Besides, in my area, cops will ticket you if they see you hands-on with a device.

Same problem here. A new service has started up that gets its drivers base access and they are destroying us. Had my rating almost back to 70 then got hit with so many base runs I had to decline, ended up back below 50.
The new delivery service has a waiting list so who knows when I will get on. I have dashed since 2020 and hate seeing the direction it is going.
Some restaurants won’t even start the order until we “sign in” on their clipboard and if someone else comes to get same items for a different order, we just get to wait and wait…

Why are they trying to force drivers to take orders without the information. Another problem is the smaller font making it hard to read especially while driving. That should be against the law, knowing we’re driving 🚗and only have 34 seconds to make a decision. Before these new changes, once I accepted the order I would complete it. Now I unassign orders without hesitation.

they classify ass as independent contractors but they hide important details before accepting or declining an order such as the number of the items what the items are who is the customer and the customer address details. I’m already declining almost every restaurant order because it’s independent contractor I need details of the order before accepting it. not going to haul 10-15 drinks from a restaurant and not able to see that before accepting or declining. doing shop and deliver orders for now. let the customers wait.
also if i accept a restaurant order that i assume its a bigger one and the pay might be better and after accepting it shows its small i wait 10mins and i unassign. let the customer wait

That was the final straw for me I’ve been a top dasher in the area for the past couple of months I have started exploring other apps
