Contacting Uber customer service isn’t always easy. There’s no phone number to call Uber directly, and many customer service options are hard to find in the app.
The best way to Uber contact customer service and get help is in the Activity and Help section of the app.
You can report an issue with your ride, ask for a refund or fare adjustment, report a complaint about your driver, or handle any other issue that you might have with Uber.
Reporting an issue in the Help or Activity sections of the app will start a live chat with Uber customer service representatives.
And if you have a general question unrelated to a trip, there are other ways to start a live chat with Uber customer service. Read on to learn more!

Uber’s phone number: Can you call Uber customer service?
It’s a frustrating fact, but Uber only provides a customer service telephone number to some customers, not all. Only riders in select markets with a Premium account status can call Uber. For all other users, you have to deal with problems through the app or at help.uber.com.
If you call the number above and it doesn’t work, you don’t have access to telephone support.
How to see if you can call the Uber phone number: In the Uber app, tap Account > Help, then scroll to the bottom and look for “Call Support.” If you can’t find “Call Support,” telephone support is not available to your account. You will have to contact Uber using the other methods described in this article.
There is a ‘critical safety response line’ phone number inside the Uber app, but it is for emergencies or serious safety complaints only. You won’t get any customer service for ordinary issues if you call that line.
Is there an Uber customer support email address?
There is not currently a public email address to directly contact Uber customer support. You can’t email Uber.
Uber Eats customer service phone number: 1-800-253-9377
Uber Eats customers can call a customer service phone line at 1-800-253-9377. Calling Uber Eats customer service is most useful if you need to modify an order that is in progress. If your order has already been delivered, help tools in the app are the best way to contact customer service.
The tops ways to contact Uber customer service
Depending on your issue, there are different ways to contact Uber. You can chat with customer service by reporting a trip issue in the app or at help.uber.com, and Twitter is better for directly messaging a question.
- The Help and Activity section in the Uber app: Tap Account in the bottom menu then tap Help or Activity. Select the trip, then browse the Help section for an issue that matches yours. Select an issue to begin a chat thread.
- Help.uber.com: Sign in at help.uber.com and select the trip to report issues with a ride and chat with customer service
- If you lost an item in an Uber, jump to ‘What to do if you lost an item in an Uber’
- Send a tweet to @Uber_Support on Twitter: Good for ride issues and general questions
- Send a message to Uber on Facebook: Begin at Uber’s Facebook page and send a message via Messenger
How to contact customer service in the Uber app
The Uber app is typically the best way to contact customer service about issues with a specific ride.
In the app menu, Activity and Help both allow you to report issues with rides and begin a chat thread with Uber support representatives. The Help section also has general articles to teach you how Uber works.
Chat with customer service by reporting an issue with a ride
To report a problem and chat with customer service, Tap Activity in the bottom menu. Select the trip with an issue, then scroll to the help section to find the most common issues.
Selecting an issue will begin a chat thread with Uber customer support. You can ask for a fare review, report a lost item, or tell Uber about an issue with your driver.
You will get an app notification when Uber support responds to your chat message.
Use the Activity menu to find a trip and get help
In a trip receipt, scroll to “Get ride help” and select an issue to start a live chat with customer service
Chat with customer service for a general issue
If you want to chat with customer service but don’t have an issue with a specific trip, go to Account > Help > Account > Can’t sign in or request a trip > Chat Support for Sign-in Issues
The “Chat support for sign-in issues” option opens a live chat with customer service. You can ask questions or enter any issue, even if it isn’t about a specific trip or issues with signing in.
There isn’t currently an easy one-tap way to directly start a live chat with Uber support. Instead, you must dig through menus to find a “Chat with us” link that opens chat support.
Tap around Help topics to find the “Chat with us” option
How to find your current customer service chat threads in the app
Tap Account > Help. Chat threads are listed at the top of the page under Support Messages.
Find your existing chat sessions at the top of the Help page
Find your chat thread at help.uber.com: Select Riders, then scroll to Support Messages.
How to contact customer service at help.uber.com
The same options available in the Uber app are also available at help.uber.com. You can report issues with a trip, request a fare review, report a problem with your driver and their car, and more.
You can chat with customer service at help.uber.com by reporting an issue with a trip, or by finding a “chat with us” button that can be found on some Help pages.
To report an issue with a trip, head to help.uber.com and log in. Select Riders, then select the trip where you had an issue. Scroll to the help section and find the best matching option. Some options allow you to chat with Uber.
What NOT to do to get customer service from Uber
- Don’t call the critical safety response line unless it’s for an emergency or a serious safety issue
- Don’t call your driver after a trip is over
- Don’t reply to your email ride receipt. Your email will bounce back
- Don’t try to contact Uber through an email address you found in a ride receipt or another support thread
As frustrating as it may seem, the only way to successfully get customer service from Uber is to use the in-app tools or help.uber.com. Trying to brute force your way into customer support through your driver or the critical safety response line won’t work.
How to get a refund or fare adjustment from Uber
You might be able to get a refund if there were serious issues with your ride. Typically the refund will be in Uber Cash, which is an app credit for future rides.
In the Uber app, tap Activity at the bottom of the app. Select the trip and tap it to bring up the Trip Details menu. Scroll to the Help section and tap “Get Trip Help.”
Tap More options and then Review my fare or fees to get a fare review or request a refund.
Alternatively, you can use help.uber.com to get a fare adjustment or refund. Under “Trip issues and refunds,” you’ll see a map and a dropdown list. Click the dropdown and find the ride in question.
A fare review can lead to a full refund
Support topics will appear below the fare receipt. You should be able to find a support article that addresses your issue. If you don’t, find the closest related help article with a contact form and use it to send a message.

Uber charges a $20 returned item fee if your driver returns your item. The fee goes directly to your driver (More about Uber fees).
Ultimately, drivers are not responsible for lost items. You may be out of luck if you can’t get in touch with your driver.

- Tap Activity
- Find the trip where you lost the item and select it
- Scroll to “Find Lost Item“
- Select the best option: Contact the driver, or report that you can’t reach the driver

Telephone support agents can handle all driver issues, but many drivers report that it’s not much more helpful than the normal in-app support system.

Drivers can chat with Uber in the Uber driver app
A Help section at the bottom of every trip record allows you to contact support about common ride issues. This is where you’ll report problems or request a fare review.
Select the appropriate issue and follow any instructions to select more options or enter more info.
Reporting an issue will begin a chat thread with Uber support. You will get a notification when Uber replies.
To directly chat with Uber without reporting a trip issue
Reporting a trip issue will begin a live chat with Uber support, but you can start a chat even if the issue isn’t about a specific trip.
Go to Menu > Help, then search for “chat.” The resulting articles that appear all have a “Chat with us” link at the bottom of each page.

After you’ve submitted a question or reported an issue, you can use Support Messages to your support threads and send replies to Uber.
help.uber.com: The same chat & support features as the driver app

You can view your current chat threads in the driver app or help.uber.com. So if you start a conversation at help.uber.com, you can check access it later in the driver app.
What drivers can expect after contacting Uber
You will get an in-app message when an Uber rep answers your question, along with an email. It should take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Many drivers find that Uber’s response time varies quite a bit.
You can reply using the Support Messages area of the driver app or by replying to Uber’s email.
Tips to get better help from Uber support
- One question at a time — Uber typically will only respond to one issue at a time, so loading your message with several issues isn’t effective
- Be as brief as possible — Only include the details that are essential to your issue
- Be polite and civil — Be direct, but try not to argue or abuse the support staff
Drivers can get in-person help at Greenlight Hubs
Uber has in-person support offices called ‘Greenlight Hubs‘ in many cities. Uber representatives at these offices can spend more time on your issues and they have more power to make decisions on the spot.
It’s often better to visit a Greenlight Hub if you want a faster resolution to complicated problems or if you have several problems that you need to handle at the same time.
To book an appointment in the driver app, go to Help and search for “Greenlight.” Tap through the resulting articles to find the “Schedule an appointment” option.
Visit this page at Uber.com to see Greenlight Hub locations in your area. The page uses your location to only show you nearby Greenlight Hubs.

I’m an Uber eats driver or was…. When I picked up a large order from Walmart which consisted of 5-6 smaller orders will th all different addresses. After my first delivery I scrolled to get the ssscons address, saw it was 23 miles away and stopped to get gas. Whenever I get out of the car on a delivery for gas or something I always keep my phone on me just in case. Well I accidentally left the screen up and idk what I did but it accidentally deleted the deliveries Orr showing them as delivered when k hadn’t done that yet. It was merely an accident. And then my phone died. I charged my phone called customer service immediately and told them what happened and was panicking. Mind you I had a 2% cancellation rate and was a platinum driver status. So cancelling wasn’t something I did practically ever. Well Uber wound up deactivating my account saying for fraud and I appealed the decision waiting to hear back and never did. I had to reach out multiple times for them to not even give me straight answers. Saying “unsafe reasons” then “fraudulent activity” even. Though this situation was neither. I begged to talk to a human but was ifnored and the last person I talk to kept lying to me and saved all the messages that don’t make sense and unprofessional. Wondering if anyone has ever had this happen and what they did?? Email me plz- it’[email protected] if u can help or relate. Thanks

I’m sure many have this issue, and I’ve had it many times myself. Clearly Uber intentionally doesn’t want it fixed. The problem is not with a specific ride it’s the rides that don’t happen. Your drivers are notified of a ride hail and reject it, they are supposed to come in 7 minutes and then 10-15 minutes go by and they cancel it. Then you have to re-order a ride and guess what the fares have gone up. But still your ride hail gets rejected again. it happened last night again as I was trying to come home from a concert. I was stranded in DC for over an hour as driver after driver rejected my request. Why are they allowed to do that? There should be some obligation. I ended up having to order a ride from Lyft, and had no problems. I will use Lyft from now on and avoid Uber.
Betty says
The problem when drivers is rejected the trip is because Uber paid so low to de driver and charge half tone to the passenger
Veronica kennedy says
Charged today 1/5/2023 booking fees, twice in one day, driver used terrible long route both times.Urber always sides with the drivers route. They now are going up with feed I wasn’t aware of.
Doug H says
Generally speaking the drivers just follow GPS. There’s not much incentive to ‘run up the meter’ because it doesn’t add much to the fare and Uber can see that they took an inefficient route. If they really did go way, way out of the way, Uber will adjust your fare
James Brooks says
Incorrect. I had a driver in Chicago last week miss two exits off of the freeways coming from Midway Airport to downtown. Instead he ended up doing a circle of the spot we were headed to. I had been quoted 26.90 and they charged 33.29. They refuse to refund the 6.39. The driver was busy talking and totally missed his exits. Uber will now miss out on several hundreds worth of fares over the next coming months. They are being very short sighted.
Michelle Vredevoogd says
I pulled up my uber app for my ride from the airport approx, 15 miles to my house. It said $42 then changed to #118.96!!!! Absolutely ridiculous cost and how can it change like that in 30 seconds??
Mikheil says
Why are Uber Support Center representatives making fun of us drivers? They humiliate us and give us a rude answer, no humanism, as if we were drivers and inanimate objects.
Anthony E says
Been driving since 2016 …uber support is absolutely horrible, they don’t know crap and tell you same thing over and over…can’t get this harassment test off my screen and won’t let me complete it…been 2 weeks and I’ve lost hella money ….UBER DRIVER SUPPORT SUCKS !!!!
Victoria Grant says
I cancelled my ride within 8 minutes. I could not find the cancellation button on the UBER app and had to reach out to the driver on What’s APP. I don’t have What’s App on my phone. I stated to cancel this fare and she said she was with other rider yet I was charged for a cancellation fee when I did not waster the driver’s time, the driver did not have wait in any way and did not loose money.
Somewhere i was advised that I received a refund but I don’t see it on my credit card.
Communication with UBER is nonexistent.
Dayanara Barrett says
this is ridiculous that I have to go through the courts in order to Sue Uber, because Uber does not uphold nothing, they say as far as when they wrongfully take money from you and continue to charge you for anything else you do and give you the run around as far as emailing and then they never respond, so looks like I’ll be falling our police report and going through the courts in order to retrieve my money from rental Uber because I never went to the vehicle and they will not reimburse me my money
