Many Spark drivers were surprised to see a mysterious “adjustment credit” paid to their accounts. The seemingly random payments were for various amounts, from just a few dollars all the way up to $624.
Here’s what’s going on: Spark is compensating drivers for errors with tip payments that prevented customer tips from being passed along to drivers. Here’s the full announcement from Spark:
“We identified some trips where we may not have collected and issued tips customers meant for you, due to a system issue. To address this issue, we are making system changes and are also crediting your accounts with tip amounts for affected orders, even though customers were never charged for the tips.”
Users on both the One and the Branch bank accounts received the adjustment credits. One users noticed the payments first, but Branch users eventually received the payments at the normal Tuesday pay time.
Spark drivers have long complained of app issues, missing payments, and issues with the tipping system. This adjustment payment confirms some driver suspicions that there were problems with the tipping system.
