The RidesharingDriver.com Guide to DoorDash

You can get almost anything delivered on DoorDash. It began as a food delivery app, but it has quickly expanded into all areas of delivery: Grocery, convenience stores, retail stores, and even peer-to-peer orders.

DoorDash delivery couriers, called “Dashers,” are independent contractors who pick up and deliver items. Delivering for DoorDash is a popular delivery gig that averages $15–$25 per hour.

Delivering for DoorDash: The basics

To qualify for DoorDash, you must be 18 or older with access to a vehicle. In some markets, you can deliver on a scooter or bicycle, which is a good option in denser cities.

After you get activated, sign into the Dasher app to schedule hours. Or if an area is busy, you can “Dash Now” without a schedule.

Here’s what a day of delivering is like: Start by going online in the Dasher app and wait for order requests. When a request comes in, you’ll see the estimated payout, the restaurant/store location, the customer’s location, and the estimated delivery distance.

After you accept an order, navigate to the restaurant/store to pick up items. Then, navigate to the customer and use their drop-off instructions to deliver the items.

Next, wait for more orders to come in and sign off whenever you want! It’s a flexible gig.
