Driving for on-demand delivery apps is a growing work opportunity, especially if your car isn’t new enough for Uber and Lyft.
The vehicle requirements for most delivery apps are easy to meet: Any working vehicle qualifies, and you can even deliver on a bicycle or moped in some cities.

Do you need special auto insurance to drive for delivery apps?
When it comes to auto insurance and delivery work, there are two important questions to answer: What coverage does the delivery app offer, and does your auto policy cover delivery work?
Insurance coverage is offered by (some) delivery apps: Most (but not all) delivery apps provide liability auto insurance that covers you while you do delivery work.
Amazon Flex and Uber Eats also offer contingent collision coverage, meaning you receive collision coverage and liability coverage if you carry collision coverage on your own policy.
Instacart does not offer any insurance for delivery partners, so your auto policy must cover everything in the event of an accident.
Does your auto insurance policy cover delivery work? Most personal auto insurance policies do not cover delivery driving, so your claim may be denied if you get into an accident while working for a delivery app.
Check with your insurance company to see what they cover, and seek out a policy that covers delivery if they don’t. Many of the big-name insurance companies now have products that cover delivery.
Contact insurance agents in your area to find a policy, or do a google search for ‘delivery auto insurance’ in your area.
How to rent a car for delivery apps
You can rent a car to drive for delivery apps if you don’t have access to a qualifying vehicle.
Rentals from HyreCar can be used for any delivery app. You can also use HyreCar to rent a vehicle for Uber and Lyft.
If you want to deliver for Uber Eats, the Uber Eats Vehicle Marketplace offers weekly rentals that start around $250 per week.

what documents would i need to submit to do ubereats? i have insurance, car(not in my name), license

My car has rebuilt title, would i be able to deliver for uber eats
DougH says
I’m not 100% sure. Uber only lists vehicle model year requirement for UberEATS (1998 or newer), but doesn’t mention title status. So you might be able to do delivery only with the salvage title

Hi there I’m a user of Uber and have a brand new Car. I would like to use it part time for Uber eats however there is not a vehicle inspection location near me. Each time I try to have the inspection form sent to me I never get an email. Any suggestions?
DougH says
You can get the inspection at any state-certified mechanic. Use the tips in this uber and lyft inspection article. There are links in that article to the inspection forms for Uber and Lyft.

Hi i drive for uber, doordash and grubhub I will be driving a different car but on some days I may drive car A or car B depending on if my husbands the jeep so I was wondering if I can have both cars on my profiles just in case I am in either car ty
DougH says
Yes, you can do that. 100% certain for Uber and fairly sure for the others. If you don’t see a way to add the new vehicle or switch to it, contact the support email addresses for each company. They may have to do some work on the back end of the app.
