There is a ‘critical safety response line’ phone number inside the Uber app, but it is for emergencies or serious safety complaints only. You won’t get any customer service for ordinary issues if you call that line.

There is not currently a public email address to directly contact Uber customer support. You can’t email Uber.

Depending on your issue, there are different ways to contact Uber. Trip issues can be reported in the app or at help.uber.com, and Twitter is better for directly messaging a question.
- The Help and Trip section in the Uber app: Tap Account in the bottom menu then tap Help or Trips. Select the trip, then browse the Help section for an issue that matches yours
- Help.uber.com: Sign in at help.uber.com and select the trip to report issues with a ride

How to contact customer service in the Uber app
The Uber app is typically the best way to contact customer service about issues with a specific ride.
Both the “Trips” and “Help” menu sections allow you to report issues with rides and begin a chat with Uber support reps. The Help section also has general articles to teach you how Uber works.
To report an issue with a ride in the app: Tap Account, then tap Trips. Select the trip that had an issue, then scroll down to the help section to find the most common issues.
You can ask for a fare review, report a lost item, or let Uber know about an issue with your driver.
How to contact customer service at help.uber.com
The same options available in the Uber app are also available at help.uber.com. You can report issues with a trip, request a fare review, report a problem with your driver and their car, and more.
Head to help.uber.com and log in. Select Riders, then select the trip where you had an issue. Scroll to the help section and find the best matching option. Some options allow you to write a message to Uber.
What happens after you report an issue to Uber?
After you report an issue in the Uber app or at help.uber.com, a new message thread with Uber will begin. You will get an app notification and an email when Uber responds to your issue, typically within a few minutes for most issues.
You can type your response in the app message thread, or you can reply to the emails that Uber sends about your issue.
Can’t find the message thread? Find it in the Help section of the Uber app or at help.uber.com.
Find your chat thread in the app: Tap Account > Help, and scroll to the bottom to find Support Messages
Find your chat thread at help.uber.com: Select Riders, then scroll to Support Messages.
Fastest steps to get help from Uber
- Use the ride receipt for a trip to get help with most issues
- Once Uber responds, you can reply via email or through the “Support messages” feature in the Help section of the Uber app
What NOT to do to get customer service from Uber
- Don’t call the critical safety response line. It’s for emergencies only
- Don’t call your driver after a trip is over
- Don’t reply to your email ride receipt. Your email will bounce back
- Don’t try to contact Uber through an email address you found in a ride receipt or another support thread
As frustrating as it may seem, the only way to successfully get customer service from Uber is to use the in-app tools or help.uber.com. Trying to brute force your way into customer support through your driver or the critical safety response line won’t work.
How to get a refund or fare adjustment from Uber
You might be able to get a refund if there were serious issues with your ride. Typically the refund will be in Uber Cash, which is an app credit for future rides.
In the Uber app, tap Account > Trips. Select the trip and tap it to bring up the Trip Details menu. Scroll to the Help section and tap “Get Trip Help.”
Tap More options and then Review my fare or fees to get a fare review or ask for a refund.
Alternatively, you can use help.uber.com to get a fare adjustment or refund. Under “Trip issues and refunds,” you’ll see a map and a dropdown list. Click the dropdown and find the ride in question.
Support topics will appear below the fare receipt. You should be able to find a support article that addresses your issue. If you don’t, find the closest related help article with a contact form and use it to send a message.

Tips to get better help from Uber support
- One question at a time – Uber typically will only respond to one issue at a time, so loading your message with several issues isn’t effective
- Be as brief as possible – Only include the details that are absolutely essential to your issue
- Be polite and civil – Be polite but direct
Get in-person help at Greenlight Hub offices
Uber has in-person support offices called ‘Greenlight Hubs’ in many cities. Uber representatives at these offices can spend more time on your issues compared to online reps. If you want a faster resolution to complicated problems, it’s often better to visit a Greenlight Hub.
You can find Greenlight Hub locations by visiting this page. You can also book an appointment in the app or at help.uber.com. In the app, go to the Help section and find ‘Book an in-person appointment.’
Hello. I took an Uber in calgary this morning to the airport. It is ridiculous and unbelievable that the ride is $ 27 and the taxes are almost the same. Here is breakdown of the ride:
Trip expense 29.97 Hold the Reservation tax $6 Hold the reservation tax $3 Additional tax of pick up $2 Airport recovery tax $4 Supertax of recovering the tax TNC $ 0.45 Gst $2.28
Unbelievable…Is this correct?
Terrie Gyles says
I got an Uber at the airport without using the app and I was overcharged for the ride but I can’t contact Uber because I don’t have the app and the ride was not logged in through an account I have with Uber. The ride from the airport to my hotel was 47.75 but I was charged $118.96. That’s a drastic difference. I want my money refunded and have the information for the Uber driver and what I paid, I just need to know how to get in contact with Uber if you don’t have the app.
