Uber has always used promo codes that offer all sorts of ride credits for new Uber users, but if you’re an existing Uber user, you don’t get many opportunities for more free credits. Uber coupons for existing customers are almost impossible to find, and daily-deal discounts like Groupon are a thing of the past.
Never worry, existing Uber user, because you can get a little bit tricky in your group of friends and finesse your way into a free Uber.
Are there Uber promo codes for existing users in 2018?
There are typically no publicly available Uber promo codes for existing users in 2018, and they are almost never published online. Nearly all codes and coupons you find online are for new users who have never requested a ride before. The only codes for existing users are created by Uber for special promotional events, and typically the code expires hours after the event is over. It’s mostly a waste of time to look for coupons that work for existing customers because most are expired or fake.
Use the “Free Rides” feature inside the app to share your own promo code
You can also use the “Free Rides” feature of the Uber app to find your own promo code and referral link. You can text an invite to your contacts, and if they sign up with your link or promo code and take a ride, you’ll receive some sort of free ride credit. If you find yourself in a big group situation and you need to get more than one Uber, offer your promo code to one of your group members who has never downloaded the app and you’ll both get quick, free ride credits.
Have a friend download Uber and use promo code ‘cws7s2‘ — They can request the Uber
Here’s how to get your free Uber as an existing user, without using a promo code yourself: Find a friend in your group who hasn’t used Uber yet, then have them download the app and input ‘cws7s2.’ They initiate the ride, and you join them. Score, free ride! Disclosure: That code is my promo code and I may receive an app credit for cash bonus if you use it.
That trick works for UberX, XL, Plus, and Black Car, and all other Uber services.
Here’s how this idea came to me: I was out driving in Los Angeles one night, and I got a ride request from a rider with a huge group, around 10 people. I told him he would need more than one Uber, so he should have a friend in the group download the app and input my promo code. One of his friends downloaded the app and everyone got a free ride.

If you’re out alone or your friends won’t play along, this won’t work for you. In that case, try another ride sharing app that offers the same service.
How do promo codes work? Read my FAQ
There are many other things to know about Uber promo codes, so I created a detailed FAQ that tells you how codes work for all types of Uber users, and how to use all of the promo code features inside of the Uber app.
Look out for other Uber promotions for existing Users
Even though there aren’t many ways to get free Uber credits when you’re an existing user, Uber is regularly offering discounted rides to new users. In Los Angeles, there’s almost always some sort of discount offered to existing users, and recently I got 50% off rides for a full week. That’s a pretty good deal when you can’t get free rides any other way.
What about promo codes for UberEATS?
UberEATS provides plenty of promo codes for new users, but they don’t offer many for existing users. Share your UberEATS code to get app credits, and watch out for special promotions that Uber emails to EATS customers occasionally.
Can’t get any Uber credits? Use Lyft promo code DOUG1682 instead
If Google has sent you to this post, chances are you’re already out on the town and you need your free ride right now and you don’t care where you get it from. Lyft offers the same service as Uber, so download Lyft and input promo code ‘DOUG1682’ to get a free ride with Lyft. I may receive a commission if you sign up using my code.
